As you all know, i’m full of obsessions. Currently, (because scotland has reminded me about my love for myth & legend) I’m on a rampage for the best illustrated story books. I have some at home already due to a prior rampage, but it has started anew. My favourite illustrators are Alan Lee, PJ Lynch, Arthur Rackham, Trina Schart Hyman, Brian Froud, Cicely Mary Barker….
PJ Lynch totally rocks. He’s won the Kate Greenaway twice, for The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and When Jessie Came Across the Sea, of which the latter is one of my favourite illustrated books of all time. My other favourite is “Anna Banana and Me”. I read it when I was a wee tot and it’s still in print can you believe it?
Currently lemming “Black Ships Before Troy: The Story of the Iliad”, illustrated by PJ Lynch and “The Wanderings of Odysseus” which are companion books. The former cinched the Kate Greenaway. *grin* I can so imagine myself reading these to my kids under fluffy egyptian cotton duvets. heehee. I just had to add the egyptian cotton thing. =P
