I like my neighbourhood because it’s so quiet and it always feels kinda sleepy…except when I hear my neighbours talk (the grandmas tend to shout) which can be pretty amusing…a bit of a kampong feel. In the morning, everything goes about in a bit of a daze…like when you stumble to the bathroom to behold, in great trepidation, the state of your hair. The first thing I do is pour a huge glass of water and turn on my macbook, open safari and click on “Blogs” on my bookmarks bar…and press delete when no one updates. It’s sooo easy it spoils me. I nearly died in Bali when I had no internet access. I’m a geek that way.
Yesterday, Tim and I went down to Vivocity on a whim. I was pretty fun though…dinner was yummers. Herbal roast duck at Dian Xiao Er with this lotus root/macadamia/water chestnut thingy I couldn’t get enough of. Oh the chilli was really good too- wish they sold it in bottles haha. After that…we wandered around a bit and found this really cool place (Charmaine it’s a bit like your Happy Shop! Haha i think you’ll like it) that’s a natural well-being concept boutique/spa/gourmet restaurant/chocolaterie damn cool. It’s called Red, White & Pure and is wholly owned by that birds nest chinese herbal place Eu Yan Sang. They have a really great range of natural skincare lines, my favourites being the Australian brand Mor (beautiful packaging and mouth-watering scents…the Sorbet & Marshmallow Lip Nectars are delectably yum) and Alora Ambiance which has lovely soy candles… no more sooty stains on tablecloth and walls! Oh I bought a box of Eu Yan Sang’s famous Bak Foong pills which are supposed to help women after their monthly red tide…to replenish blood/energy/vitality you know the spiel. I heard it’s really good so I’m giving it a try. Oh we watched Babel…I thought it had a great concept- communication, though it ended a little disappointingly…there was a good build up before but it just kinda pffted out in the end. Having said that, solid performances from all the actors and masterful cinematography. I loved the jap girl’s trippy part and the earthiness of the whole movie. Comparisions to Crash are inevitable- I felt Babel was less preachy but the various stories were not as well tied together as Crash and Crash ended much better…but that’s just my opinion. Watch it to see for youself, it’s definitely worth a watch.
